Cipher Hidden EncryptionTM
Cipher Hidden Encryption, or CHE, is a proprietary encryption methodology based on the AES standard. However, CHE "hides" the encryption from all systems that receive the card data so that the point of sale software does not know that the card data has been manipulated. This means that a typical point of sale software system can enjoy the benefits of fully encrypted card data, but without any modifications or disruption.
CHE works in conjunction with network-side applications provided by Semtek (resident at the merchant’s data center, gateway, processor, or within Semtek's data center) that keeps track of these encrypted card swipes and decrypts them so that authorizations can be executed properly.
CHE was built primarily to eliminate card data from merchant's systems, providing merchants definitive protection against data theft without having to rebuild their systems and security protocols.
